Sardinia International Photo Competition 2005
Alan took a few shots of the action whilst fore filling his role of being one of the three selected British judges working along side Jane Morgan and Will Postlewaite.
The British had their share of success in this years Sardinia international photo competition which was based in Olbia over a three day period between the 21st to 23rd of October
The competition was well sponsored with over €10,000 0f prizes to be won
This year the diving and competition was based around a dive site called Red Rock Island which lived up to its name to produce some fine shallow scenic wide angle photography (see images 003 and 005) and indeed it was with just this type of red rock shot that Ian Lightfoot from Cleeve near Bristol saw his opportunity to scoop the winning shot in the wide angle section of the competition (see image 008) scooping €1500 worth of mares diving equipment (image 007) for his efforts and Ian at work with his Olympus 50/50 twin strobes and wide angle lens (image 006)
Ken Sullivan from Baldock had his success in the macro section running a very close second to
Paolo Matinu with his fine shot of a little horned blenny, take a look at his shot (image 009).
Chris Gee from Burnley also produced some fine macro work giving all of the contender’s stiff competition with his fine shot of a curled octopus (image 010).
Colourful Mediterranean jellyfish (such as image 012- a fine under surface reflection shot taken by Alan outside of competition entries) also help their place in the ranking of what proved to be a very well organised and presented international competition that was run in the best of friendly atmospheres for which we intend to increase our British team for next year.
